The ultimate fascinating source.
This book is incredible! I have a previous copy of it. I have to say that this book, physically isn't made as beautifully or durable as my earlier edition, but the new information found in it is invaluable.

I have an older version of this that is much thinner. I love this expanded version. I think my favorite is the bead timeline. Still the best reference for beads out there.
As a serious collector of ethnic beadwork, I have eagerly awaited this publication since I heard that Ms. Dubin was planning an expanded version of her original "History of Beads". This new publication has not been a disappointment in its huge expanded history and its beautiful photography. The history of man's early creative adornment has been, through archeological records, enhanced and vibrantly brought to our awareness in vivid images that thrill the eye of the artist as well as of the collector. The volume not only thrills those who love ethnic beadwork, it also dazzles the contemporary artist and collector because it ventures to bridge the history of beadwork from the past into current times. The time line that is added at the end of this book is enough to make its purchase a reward. It is a pleasure to read as well as a visual feast.
A fascinating read with excellent illustrations. A must-have bead bible for collectors, jewelry historians, and designers. A treasure in my library.
