I was lucky enough to read the ARC of this deliciously geeky anthology, Covalent Bonds.First I want to say, Romance? Geekiness? Yes, please! I was very excited to get my grubby mits on this one. It didn’t’ disappoint. The stories range from sweet to steamy, and cover a wide array of geekery. Computer hacking? Check. Table top games? Check. Cosplay? Fandoms? Check, check. It really is a lot of fun, and it drives home the point that I have known all along: Nerds are sexy, ya’ll!
There were stories by well known romance authors, and I also discovered some new favorites. Wendy Sparrow is amazing as always, and erotic romance author Cori Vidae shines as a true stand out proving that she can also write sweet stories..
If you are looking for something new, these aren't your usual tropes. They are so so much better

I’ve enjoyed reading most of the stories in this collection. I’ve found some new authors to check out (& a couple to stay away from.) The steam rating on this is kinda low, but pretty high on the romance scale. Some authors to look for are Tallulah Darling, G.G. Andrew, Cori Vidae, Wendy Sparrow & Charlotte M. Ray. There was only one story that I aggressively didn’t like, but read for yourself & you be the judge.
This anthology was at the perfect intersection of all things I love in stories geekiness of all varieties, smart main characters, witty banter, and romance. I loved all of the stories but one, but I'll say a bit about my favorites below
The Hacked Match by Wendy Sparrow
This was a great story to kick off the anthology. Aubrey the FBI consultant going undercover at the con to entice a former hacker and crush into an assignment was a fun premise. I immediately downloaded another series from Wendy Sparrow after reading.
Addie-cted by Charlotte Ray
This reminded me a wee bit of The Guild, and I'm a sucker for stories about internet friends (or crushes) meeting in real life and navigating the new dimension of their relationship. I also liked how the author handled Addie's disability and Trent's reaction to it.
Better than Chocolate by Tellulah Darling
Short and sweet and full of chocolate and Doctor Who goodness, but the banter is what really made me fall for this one.
Girl Meets Grammarian by G.G. Andrew
One of my very favorites. I love G.G. Andrew's writing and characters and this was no exception. I loved the push and pull between Eliza the poet and her more traditional grammar-loving colleague Kunal. Also, think diagramming sentences can't be sexy? Prepared to be proved delightfully and unequivocally wrong.
If you love geeks and nerds in love, you will love this collection of short stories. Some I liked better than others. I had a bit of a hard time with some of the stories involving gaming as I am not a gamer, but how could you not love random mentions of Firefly? A few of the authors, I would like to read more of their work - Wendy Sparrow, Mara Malins, and G.G. Andrew.
Overall, I give this collection four stars. Here is the breakdown
The Hacked Match - Wendy Sparrow
Loved this story. Both the characters and the story felt very real to me. Four stars.
Issues - Jeremiah Murphy
While I did like the characters and the setting in this one, I didn't care much for the story. Two stars.
Addie-cted - Charlotte Milay
Cute story of two gamers falling in love. They were both adorable. Sweet story. Three Stars.
Spoilers - Marie Piper
Two movie geeks find each other. Cute story. Three stars.
Rogue Trip - Laura VanArendonk Baugh
Really liked this geek turned hero story. Very well done. Four stars.
Critical Hit - Cori Vidae
This one is probably my least favorite. As I said, not being a gamer, I wasn't really into the subject matter, but the two young people were cute together and it's a sweet story. Two stars.
Classification of a Nerd - Mara Mailins
I loved this story. Oh the complications! Boss/employee attraction, nerd/geek mixed relationship, misread motives, mixed up hotel reservations. So glad this couple finally got it figured out. Four stars.
Better Than Chocolate - Tellulah Darling
While both of the main characters started out with a chip of their shoulder and all kinds of attitude, the more I got to know them, the more I liked them. Three Stars.
Girl Meets Grammarian - G.G. Andrew
I love everything about this story. The setting, the characters, the way the relationship develops. Being a bit of a poet and a bit of a grammarian myself, I couldn't help but love these two characters. I give this one five stars.
